Michael Duff hailed Wycombe’s response to their defeat at Leyton Orient as they thrashed Port Vale 4-0 at Adams Park.
The Chairboys bounced back from last weekend’s 2-0 defeat in style thanks to goals from Cauley Woodrow, Connor Taylor, Fred Onyedinma and Junior Quitirna.
Head coach Duff said: “I think we’ve been better in recent weeks. We got the result, that’s the most important thing.
“I thought we started the game really really well, went 1-0 up and sort of came off script a little bit.
“We did what they wanted to do, rather than what we wanted to do.
“Ultimately, it’s difficult, they’ve got nothing to lose, so they keep changing the shape and they change the personnel.
“I thought we were well deserving of the win, pleased with the clean sheet. Obviously Will (Norris) made a mistake last week, Taylor Allen made a mistake last week, and I thought the response was really good.
“I think it’s really important that we’re all together now. Supporters, players, board, and everyone pushing in the same direction is important.”
Wanderers took the lead midway through the first half when Woodrow pounced on a mix-up between Vale keeper Joe Gauci and Cameron Humphreys.
Connor Taylor added Wanderers’ second 20 minutes from time with a close-range strike from a deflected Caolan Boyd-Munce corner.
A quickfire double from Onyedinma and Quitirna wrapped up the points as Wycombe climbed to eighth in League One, just two points off the play-off places.
Vale boss Jon Brady was less than impressed with his side’s display.
“We got outrun, outfought, outplayed,” Brady said.
“The way we tried to set up, I’ve got no consistency in the front line at the moment with what we’ve got.
“We’ve been really good defensively, but today we weren’t. We’ve been, in my opinion, quite toothless up front.
“It’s been inconsistent (the attack) and I tried to put Gaz (Andre Gray) up there and set the press right and work hard.
“Ultimately, we haven’t got the quality to compete against these teams.”
