Wigan fail to impress in goalless draw with Leyton Orient

Strugglers Wigan played out a relatively uneventful goalless draw with Leyton Orient at the Brick Community Stadium.

Wigan dominated the first half without ever really looking like breaking the deadlock.

Jensen Weir had a shot blocked before Joe Taylor inexplicably headed sideways from a good position.

At the other end, James Morris saw a shot parried by Sam Tickle, and Wigan were grateful for Will Aimson being in the right place at the right time to hack the loose ball clear.

Perhaps sensing an away win was well within their grasp, the visitors looked far more of a threat in the second half.

Tickle was twice required to make fine saves to deny Demetri Mitchell, while Dom Ballard saw a stinging strike tipped over by the home goalkeeper.

Wigan had one last chance to nick it at the death but, after Will Dennis had spilled a cross from Joseph Hungbo, fellow-substitute Caylan Vickers could only find the roof of the net with his shot.
