Lasse Sorensen rescues point for Huddersfield at the death in draw with Reading

Lasse Sorensen scored a last-gasp equaliser in a 1-1 draw as Huddersfield stretched their unbeaten home run to 13 games and stopped Reading from claiming a victory that would have effectively killed off the Terriers’ play-off hopes.

The hosts started the day three points behind their sixth-placed opponents and needed a result as Martin Drury and Jon Stead began their caretaker spell with Liam Manning on compassionate leave.

Huddersfield dominated the first half but were unable to find the opener, with Bojan Radulovic pulled up for a foul after lobbing Joel Pereira to find the net.

Lewis Wing gave Reading the lead from the penalty spot just before the break after Lee Nicholls saved well from Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan, only to immediately bring down Charlie Savage with a clumsy foul.

Ryan Ledson looked to have wasted Huddersfield’s best chance to rescue the game when he put a header straight at Pereira from point-blank range.

But substitute right-back Lasse Sorensen finished superbly off Sean Roughan’s pass from deep six minutes into stoppage time.
