Play-off contenders Carlisle saw their three-match winning run brought to an end with a goalless draw at home to lowly Gateshead.
In an eventful opening 12 minutes, both sides had a goal disallowed for offside before Gateshead midfielder Keaton Ward saw his strike from Brad Nicholson’s long throw clatter off a post.
The shots continued to arrive and Hugh Parker was denied the opener for Carlisle when his close-range effort from Stephen Wearne’s pass was palmed away by visiting goalkeeper Adam Desbois.
The Heed were also frustrated in their attempts to break the deadlock, with defender Morgan Feeney sweeping Josh Anifowose’s shot off the line within minutes of the restart.
Carlisle then hit the woodwork twice, first through David Ajiboye after 50 minutes while Regan Linney was also denied by a post in the 73rd minute as both sides failed to make their many chances count.
