Lewis Simper’s brace saw Sutton come from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Aldershot as both sides finished with 10 men.
There were only five minutes on the clock when Callum Stewart got his first goal in Aldershot colours, firing in after Sutton failed to deal with James Henry’s free-kick into the box.
Eleven minutes later, Ryan Hill doubled the lead from the penalty spot after Cameron Hargreaves was felled in the area by Junior Eccleston, but Simper quickly pulled one back with a close-range finish after a defensive mix-up.
With 17 minutes left, Aldershot’s Olly Scott received his second yellow card in the space of 10 minutes after pulling down David Ogbonna inside the area and Simper stepped up to level from the spot.
Seven minutes from time, Charlie Bell was shown a second yellow card for a poor challenge to level up the sides.
