Play-off rivals Bolton and Stockport share derby spoils

Ben Osborn’s late own goal ensured League One play-off rivals Bolton and Stockport shared a 2-2 draw at the Toughsheet Community Stadium.

The visitors came from behind to lead 2-1 until Osborn unwittingly put the ball beyond goalkeeper Corey Addai 11 minutes from time.

Wanderers still haven’t beaten their derby rivals in a league game since 1998.

But on-loan striker Johnny Kenny’s second goal of the Easter weekend was their first – outside cup competitions – against the Hatters for 25 years.

The Celtic forward held off Ethan Pye’s challenge to give Bolton a 39th-minute advantage.

Stockport, whose next outing will be their EFL Trophy final against Luton at Wembley, levelled in the third minute of first-half stoppage time.

Osborn crossed from the right and Adama Sidibeh bundled in his seventh goal for the club since his January move from St Johnstone.

Six minutes later Tayo Edun, an interval replacement for Hatters skipper Lewis Bate, turned in a shot from Ollie Norwood that deflected into his path.

But Stockport’s bid for a fourth successive derby win was ended by Osborn’s goal before substitute Louie Barry was sent off for two bookings in the final five minutes.
