Blood donors across Tipperary are called on this week as the demand is high

A clinic will be open this week at Scouts Hall in Nenagh

Urgent need for blood donors in Kilkenny - can you help?

Demand is high for blood this month

The call goes out this week for Tipperary blood donors to contribute as the demand from hospitals is rising sharply.

The hospital blood requirement is sky high at the moment with demand almost 6% higher than during September of last year.

The Scouts Hall in Nenagh is the venue for the IBTS service in Tipperary this week with the clinic set to operate from 4.50pm to 8.10pm for four days.

It is recommended you make an appointment to attend a clinic. Walk In Donors can be accepted for the next unfilled appointment slot if any are still available, however it is ideal if you can pre book so please call 1800 222 111 to book an appointment

The call is out for all blood types but the Irish Blood Transfusion Service have stated that there is a high demand in particular for these types of blood: O negative, B negative and AB negative.

O negative donors - who are often called ‘universal donors’ and make up less than 2% of the population - are in high demand because their blood can be received by people of all other blood types.

New donors are always welcome – appointments can be made on 1800 222 111. There are more details here:
