Cahir Castle: Venue for RTE concert series Anam

The iconic Cahir Castle will be the venue tonight for the opening concert in the new RTE2 television series Anam - Songs for Hearts & Minds.

The four-part series, beginning tonight, November 2, at 11 pm on RTÉ2, integrates inspiring live performances with the beauty of Ireland's remarkable historic landmarks.

Produced in partnership with Other Voices and the Office of Public Works, the series kicks off in Cahir Castle with intimate performances by songwriters Lisa Hannigan, Paul Noonan, and Gemma Hayes who will come together to perform some stripped-back classics, cherished covers and unreleased gems.

As well as Cahir Castle, the series visits the Blasket Centre in Dunquin, close to Other Voices' spiritual home of Dingle in west Kerry. In later episodes, performances are held in Kildare's majestic Castletown House, Ireland's first and largest Palladian-style house, and Desmond Castle in Newcastle West, county Limerick.

The series celebrates what’s about to happen musically in Ireland with exciting debuts from emerging Irish talents, including singer-songwriter Nell Mescal, bedroom pop-star Ezra Williams, and alt-folk act Kingfishr.

Viewers will also enjoy performances from Cormac Begley, Anna Mieke, Ye Vagabonds, and others.
