A public meeting has been called for this Friday evening, 2 August at 6pm in the Scouts Hall in Nenagh after the latest update on Nenagh Community Nursing home has been revealed.

Following an inquiry from Alan Kelly TD, the Chief Executive Officer of UL Hospitals Group, Ms Colette Cowan updated him that tendering for the temporary use of Nenagh CNU as a sub-acute rehabilitation facility is now complete and ‘Bartra Property Company’ has been identified as the suitable provider.

She advised that “Finalisation of terms will now proceed in advance of mobilisation of the service requirement (and that) mobilisation of the services will commence over the next number of weeks.”

It is understood that this private company who has secured the lease for the unit is a “Private Nursing Home” company who will run it as a private nursing home as opposed to the sub acute unit for UHL which was previously announced by the HSE.
There is currently no date provided for the length of the lease undertaken by this business but more information is expected to be provided at the public meeting on Friday.

All Tipperary TD’s and Nenagh Municipal District Councillors have been invited to attend the upcoming meeting and members of the public are invited and urged to attend.

At the recent Nenagh MD meeting, several councillors condemned the HSE for how they are handling plans for what was originally supposed to be a community nursing home.
