Gordon Elliott landed a double winner winner at Naas on Saturday with a Tipperary story part of the mix as the Harry Swan-ridden Eternal Echo took the bumper which was run as the fifth race on the card.
In the Newtown Anner Stud colours, the 16/5 chance led at the furlong pole and held off his own stable companion, the 2/1 shot Apple’s Jane, by three-parts of a length.
It completed a double for the trainer as the five-year-old Scalpnagoon won the two and a quarter-mile auction novice hurdle for Gordon Elliott and Danny Gilligan. Owned by Michael Hanrahan, the horse was leading after the second-last hurdle and the 11/1 chance battled well to see off Peter Fahey’s 13/8 favourite Koori Star by a length and a half.
