Carrick-on-Suir's West Gate to be closed to traffic at night for a week

Tipperary County Council has made an order to close the R-855 Westgate in Carrick-on-Suir nightly from its junction with R-676 at Main Street to its junction with the N24 at O'Mahony Avenue, Carrick-on-Suir for a week this month. 

The street will be closed between 7pm and 6am nightly from Monday, November 17 to Sunday, November 23 23 November to facilitate the watermain repair and replacement including the reinstatement of the road and footpaths. 

DIVERSIONS

For all HGV’s travelling East to West, diversions will be detailed and signed along the N24 advising of detour around Carrick-on-Suir on the N24 to Greystone Street.

For all HGVs intending to cross at Dillon Bridge from the south, they will be diverted East on the R-680 to Fiddown, turning left on to the R-698 through Fiddown and re-joining the N24 Eastbound, where they will pick-up the diversion around town to the N24 junction with Greystone Street

For local traffic, not exceeding 3.5t, the diversion route will be down Bridge Street to the junction of Castle Lane and North Quay, turning West on the L-6712, then joining the N24 Eastbound to meet Greystone Street.
