Supported by Research Ireland, Mary Immaculate College (MIC) and the Irish American Partnership, and organised in collaboration with the Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), Thurles, and Tipperary County Council Library Service, the festival aims to foster curiosity, creativity and lifelong learning in STEM. Thousands of participants of all ages attend events across the county and online each year, experiencing STEM through accessible and interactive activities.
The flagship Community Science Day will take place on Saturday, November 15, at MIC Thurles, featuring hands-on workshops from the MIC CRAFT Maker Space, science demonstrations, magic shows, book readings, LEGO challenges and kite-making sessions.
A wider programme of activities will run throughout the county, including the Connected Innovation Event at TUS Thurles on November 6, highlighting research and development initiatives in communities and industry. Local libraries will host sessions on topics ranging from Guided Forest Meditation to the evolution of sports nutrition and CRAFT Maker activities, ensuring opportunities for all ages.
All events are free and open to the public. A full schedule is available at www.mic.ul.ie/mic-insights/tipperary-festival-of-science-2025-public-events. Further updates are posted on the festival’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
