Guided by teacher Ms Alison Laffan, the school community once again demonstrated a strong spirit of generosity, assembling boxes intended to bring comfort and delight to children who might otherwise receive little this Christmas.

The appeal, built on a simple idea — fill a shoebox with small presents and send it to a child in need — has become a meaningful annual exercise for the school. Staff say the boys embrace the project with enthusiasm, selecting items carefully and taking pride in preparing each box for its journey abroad.

While the cost-of-living pressures facing many families might have dampened participation, the response in Cashel remained notably robust. Parents and pupils contributed steadily, ensuring that the school’s collection would reach children who benefit most from these seasonal gestures.

Thanks to the efforts of Ms Laffan and the wider St John the Baptist community, a considerable number of children will receive a special Christmas box this year — a modest but significant reminder that small acts of kindness can travel far.

As the boxes leave Cashel and make their way to their recipients, the school community can take quiet pride in knowing that their collective effort will brighten Christmas for many children. A simple gesture with a meaningful and positive impact.
