Woman appears in court charged with dangerous driving causing death of Tipperary man

A 49-year-old Clonmel based woman appeared before a district court this week charged with dangerous driving causing the death of a Carrick-on-Suir father of two young boys in a two-vehicle traffic accident on the N24 near Kilsheelan just over two years ago.

Natalya Maydan with an address at 73 Glenoaks Close, Clonmel appeared before Judge John O'Leary at Clonmel District Court on Tuesday, December 2 charged with driving a vehicle in a manner that was dangerous to the public and caused the death of Peter Mulcahy on the N24 at Ballynaraha, Kilsheelan on October 5, 2023.

Mr Mulcahy's widow Louise was present in court with a group of relatives and friends for the short hearing. She held a framed photograph of her late husband, who worked as a construction manager with JSF Construction before his death.

Garda Sergeant Tom O'Brien told the court that a file on this case was sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions who directed that it was an indictable matter. He applied for the case to be adjourned for preparation of a Book of Evidence.

Defence solicitor Eamonn Hayes made an application, on behalf of Ms Maydan, for disclosure of documents related to the case.

Judge O'Leary remanded Ms Maydan on continuing bail to appear before Clonmel District Court again on January 6 for production of the Book of Evidence.
