Community urged to support annual drive as need rises ahead of Christmas hamper deliveries

Preparations are under way for the Tipperary Town Annual Christmas Food Appeal, which will take place this weekend as the local community comes together to support those most in need during the festive season.

The appeal is organised each year by the Tipperary Town Lions Club and remains a central part of the town’s Christmas calendar.

 With demand continuing to rise, the club is appealing for volunteers to assist with the practical work involved in delivering the initiative. 

Support is needed to help manage collection boxes, pack food hampers on December 20th, 21st and 22nd, and assist with the distribution of hampers and Christmas dinners, which will take place on the morning of Wednesday, December 24th.

Alongside the call for volunteers, members of the public are being encouraged to donate food items. 

These donations will be combined into hampers and distributed to individuals and families across Tipperary Town and the surrounding areas who are experiencing financial hardship at this time of year.

According to Lions Club President Patricia O Dwyer, the level of need this Christmas is greater than ever. 

She says the club is confident that the people of Tipperary will once again respond with their usual generosity and community spirit, as they have done in previous years.
