A festive tractor run in Dualla this weekend is set to combine seasonal spectacle with fundraising for a national charity, while also commemorating a well known local figure.

Local councillor Liam Browne has announced that the Light Up Dualla Tractor Run will take place on Saturday, December 20, starting and finishing at the Horse and Hound in Dualla. The event is being held in memory of Michael “Scan” Looby, with all proceeds going to the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.

The evening will begin with a children’s tractor run and a visit from Santa Claus between 3pm and 6pm, aimed at families and younger attendees. Registration for participating tractors will open at 5pm, with an entry fee of €20, before the main tractor run gets under way at 6pm.

Organisers are encouraging participants to decorate their tractors with festive lighting as the convoy makes its way through the area. A raffle and a large auction are also planned, with a range of prizes on offer, as part of the fundraising effort.

Councillor Browne said the event is intended to celebrate community spirit while supporting an important cause. He has urged local people to attend with their families and to help ensure a strong turnout on the night.

The Horse and Hound in Dualla will serve as the central hub for the event, which is open to all ages. Organisers have said the focus will be on creating a welcoming atmosphere, remembering Michael Looby, and raising funds for Alzheimer supports through a night of shared celebration.
