New equipment to be installed to promote Tipperary Age Friendly activities

Cahir Tidy Towns

Are you ready? - Outdoor gym equipment coming to Cahir

New outdoor gym equipment will be provided in Cahir

The Cahir Tidy Towns group will dismantle Santa’s grotto this week after a very successful festive period in the town.

Since the Christmas lights went on following the Tractor Run on December 6, the town has had a very busy period and especially twith he many walks around the area.

In particular, the Swiss walk was busy and was an overflow for the Inch Field which remained under water for periods during December. We continued to maintain the walks and the town with litter picking everyday and our TÚS scheme went over and beyond during the holidays.

Our youth group places extra lights on poles around town and also helped out in the grotto and it’s great to see the enthusiasm from the younger members.

In the coming weeks we will be installing some more older persons pieces of outdoor gym equipment in the area behind the giant as part of an exercise programme to be promoted by Tipperary Age Friendly. The dates will be announced later once the equipment has been installed.

This exercise programme will incorporate a walk around the Inch Field which is 1/2km and then some light gym work and back to the Inch again to complete the course.

We have been promoting tree planting at the moment as it’s the time of the year for planting and ‘Trees of the Land’ have supplied trees once again this year to promote new growth for generations to come. As the evening stretch already we can see the daffodils popping up and some early varieties are already open down the Mall.

Shortly, we will be able to start painting and getting ready for the spring tourism boost and with record numbers visiting the castle last year, we will be ready to promote Cahir with its best foot forward.
