The bridge, carrying traffic over the River Suir, has been shut to all vehicles to allow for urgent repair works. The road is mainly used by local drivers.
Tipperary County Council has put diversion arrangements in place for the duration of the closure. Traffic travelling west is being rerouted along brief sections of the L8311 and L4305 before reaching Golden village, where drivers should turn left onto the L4304. Eastbound traffic is being diverted along a comparable route through Golden.
The council said the temporary closure is necessary to facilitate essential repairs to the bridge, and drivers are advised to follow the signed diversion routes while the works are carried out.
