It is not new news to anyone that climate change is at a rapid rate, with little signs of slowing down over the last few years.
There are many ways in which people in Tipperary can help fight climate change and do their bit to save the planet.
Gone are the days when all one had to do was make sure to use a reusable shopping bag or water bottle, small steps like this are common practice nowadays and sadly, what’s required of us is a lot more than the above.

One small step that is obvious is to choose plastic free items when buying the basics in your weekly shop.
A lot of fruit and vegetables are prepackaged with massive amounts of plastic around them, one simple way to reduce this waste is to opt for fruit and vegetables with no plastic, which can be found in most Irish supermarkets.
It is almost so normal to our eyes to see plastic packaging around everything we buy, but if we slowly reduce the amount of these items that we buy, hopefully supermarkets will follow suit and produce less items with this type of packaging.

Buying locally is also an obvious way to help the environment while shopping. Instead of buying vegetables or other food products made outside of the county, try looking for local brands made right here in Tipperary. These have not had to travel far and have already saved a lot of CO2 emissions because of this fact.
Food grown locally is also often sold in less packaging, so it is a clear solution to the problem of plastic in our shopping trolleys.
