Mounting frustration in Tipperary over daily water disruptions for past few months in town

Councillor Annemarie Ryan Shiner calls for urgent action as homes and businesses are being left without a reliable supply of water.

Mounting frustration in Tipperary over daily water disruptions for past few months in town

Residents and business owners in Tipperary Town are facing growing frustration as daily water outages and reduced pressure continue to disrupt everyday life.

Local Sinn Féin councillor Annemarie Ryan Shiner has strongly criticised Uisce Éireann, saying the town is being “badly let down” by the national water utility.

Cllr Ryan Shiner released a statement criticising Uisce Éireann and the repeated outages seen in recent months in Tipperary Town.

"Every day for the past few months, large parts of the town is either without water, or only has a limited supply, this is causing havoc with people's water supply, both in homes and businesses.

"I think what seems to be happening is that the daily reduced pressure is causing issues in a lot of peoples houses: when the water is turned down and then comes back, pipes get airlocked.

"It's unfair on households to have to pay for a plumber to come out and release the pipes, through no fault of theirs," said the councillor.

Cllr Ryan Shiner then said she had made a complaint to Uisce Éireann in relation to the ongoing issues of reduced pressure in Tipperary Town, and has raised the issue with Eoin Ó Broin TD who is going to follow up with Uisce Éireann.

"It's like a whole town being held to ransom by Irish Water, turning down the pressure every night to allow the reservoir to refill because there are leaks in pipes all over the town.. Where's their urgency is fixing this problem?," she asked.

Cllr Ryan Shiner asked for people affected by this to email operations@water.ie, outlining what's happening to you every day., and to copy in her own email, annemarie.ryanshiner@cllr.tipperarycoco.ie

"Please email your complaints and copy me in," she urged.

"We have to bombard Uisce Éireann Irish Water at this stage. A town cannot be without water every day with no end in sight and no acknowledgement from Uisce Éireann of the distress they are causing people," concluded the councillor.
