A massive congratulations to Nenagh man Jack Donovan, who has won this year’s prestigious 'Cultivating Talent' competition by Bord Bia Bloom. The competition ran by Ireland's largest gardening festival supports emerging stars in garden design.

Jack impressed the Bord Bia Bloom assessment panel with his designs for ‘Alltar’, a celebration of the overlooked ecologies that arise in the margins of a city.

His design was inspired by French gardener Gilles Clément’s idea of the 'Third Landscape' and his small show garden will illustrate how abandoned ground can be viewed, not as waste, but as a reservoir of biodiversity.

Jack will now receive funding and mentoring to help him deliver his designs at this year’s festival.

What an achievement, congrats to Jack!
