Maria O’Donnell, representing the Munster Vales tourism group, shared new plans with councillors to boost tourism in the area.
Councillor Hourigan asked if Ms O’Donnell had any information on the proposed walkway and its current status.
"I asked this question earlier at a workshop about a different walkway because one end is connected to it, but the Limerick Junction to Clonmel walkway has been completely shelved now?” Cllr Hourigan asked.
"I know there was a feasibility study carried out in 2021, and while we were talking about another walkway, I wanted to see if you had any update on that,” the Fine Gael councillor said.
Ms O’Donnell said she was not directly involved with the project and did not know its current status, but promised to find out more and let Councillor Hourigan know.
"On the Limerick Junction walkway, I’ll have to look into that. I think there are consultations going on about it, but I’ll come back to you on that.” While the Limerick Junction route remains in limbo, the district is moving forward with public consultation on a different greenway project. district.
Tipperary County Council is also seeking public feedback on the Cahir to Cashel Greenway project, another walkway currently under consultation in the county.
The project plans a scenic walking and cycling path that will connect Cahir Castle with the Rock of Cashel, aiming to bring more visitors to both historic towns.
