Local Labour Party Councillor Louise Morgan Walsh, is calling on the residents, business owners, and shoppers of Nenagh to actively engage in the ongoing public consultation process regarding the proposed Harmonised Parking Bye-Laws 2026.

Tipperary County Council has officially extended the deadline for submissions to 4:30 PM on Friday, 13th March 2026. This extension follows concerns raised regarding low initial engagement and technical issues that briefly limited access to the draft documents.

The proposed bye-laws represent a significant shift toward a unified parking system across the county, with Nenagh designated as a "Tier 2" town. Key proposals under review include:

  • New Charging Structures: Standardised hourly rates for Nenagh and Thurles.
  • 20-Minute Grace Period: A formal 20-minute free parking period for short and medium-stay zones.
  • Permit Updates: Standardised categories for residents, students, and businesses.
  • Technology & Enforcement: Potential introduction of ANPR (camera) technology for enforcement.

Speaking today, Cllr Louise Morgan Walsh said:
"These proposed changes will affect every person who lives, works, or shops in Nenagh. Parking policy is more than just about fees; it’s about the accessibility and vitality of our town centre. To date, only a handful of submissions have been received, and it is vital that the Council hears from the people these rules will impact most. I strongly encourage everyone to review the maps and draft bye-laws and voice their opinions before the new deadline on March 13th."

How to Make a Submission

Post: Written observations addressed to Liam Brett, Director of Services, Tipperary County Council, Civic Offices, Limerick Road, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary.

Deadline for all submissions: Friday, 13th March 2026 at 4:30 PM.
