The eponymous foundation was set up in his honour with the intention of combatting Sudden Adult Death Syndrome by providing cardio screenings for children playing with clubs across the country.
Taking to Facebook to honour his memory, the foundation said: “Happy Birthday Dillon!
“There is something about birthdays that make you pause and reflect. It’s a time where memories rush in and you think about all the plans that are still unwritten. Today, Dillon should have been celebrating another year of chasing life, fiercely. He should have been celebrating another year stronger and looking ahead at the young age of 28. Instead, we collectively celebrate this day in a different way.
“We celebrate the immense strength of his family and friends. We celebrate every young person who picks up their gear bag to go train in their chosen sport. We are celebrating all the parents who breath a sigh of relief knowing their child has been protected. And most importantly we celebrate EVERY conversation about heart health in young people that is started.
“Usually, a birthday is just about that one individuals life, but Dillons birthday is about many lives. All the lives that have been screened.

“This date reminds us that life may be short but it can have a lasting legacy. Today we remember Dillon, not just for all he was but for who he has become. He was a son, a teammate, a friend and a young person full of life. Now he is a hero to many.
“Happy birthday Dillon and thank you! We’re asking that today you join us in wishing Dillon a happy birthday and thanking him, for all he has inspired the foundation to do.”
