The application, lodged by Uisce Éireann on March 12, 2026, proposes a series of infrastructural improvements at the facility located in the townland of Tinvane, near Carrick-on-Suir.

According to the planning details, the development will include the construction of a new high lift pump kiosk and a UV disinfection kiosk, aimed at enhancing water treatment processes.

The plans also provide for new chemical dosing systems for orthophosphate and sodium hydroxide, to be housed within a container unit.

In addition, the proposal outlines the installation of a new bulk storage tank for sodium hydroxide, along with two new borehole kiosks. These works are intended to support and modernise the existing infrastructure at the plant.

The application also covers all associated site works and ancillary development required to facilitate the upgrades.

The planning application is currently listed as a new submission, with a decision yet to be made. Members of the public have until April 15, 2026, to make submissions or observations in relation to the proposed development.

The project forms part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve water treatment capacity and quality in the region and county.

The decision by the county council is due May 6.
