Coláiste Dún Iascaigh in Cahir has approval to upgrade its sports facilities, ushering in new athletic opportunities.

School leaders have applied to Tipperary County Council for an all-weather pitch, a 400-metre running track with six sprint lanes, areas for long jump, high jump, and shot put, a boules area, and a compact golf course.

In addition to these core facilities, the school's vision extends to a softly lit path and running track encircling the grounds, powerful lighting for the main pitch and sports zones, two illuminated padel courts with secure fencing, ball-stopping nets, and new team shelters.

The facility and floodlights can be used only from 9am to 9:30pm on weekdays, and from 9am to 9pm on weekends and bank holidays. Lights must be installed by a trained expert, and rainwater may not flow onto public roads.

Earlier this year, the school also applied for planning permission to expand its teaching facilities, which is a separate initiative from the sports facilities upgrade.

The school requested permission to build four new extensions.

These four additions will add 2,500 square metres to the school and serve various purposes.
