RIP: Tributes paid to late Tipperary man who was a 'pure gentleman'

The death has occurred of Johnny Medley, of Shyan Terrace, Mitchel Street, Thurles.

Johnny passed away on Friday, April 3, peacefully, after a illness bravely borne.

He was in the wonderful care of the staff of Sacred Heart Nursing Home, Crosspatrick.

Johnny is predeceased by his parents Aidan and Lena, brothers Thomas and Frankie, and deeply regretted by his loving family, sisters Geraldine, Helen. Noreen and Mary, brothers-in-law Chris, Pat and Seamus. nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues in Óglaigh Náisiúnta na hÉireann (ONE Veterans), neighbours and friends.

May he rest in peace.

Johnny lay in repose in Hugh Ryan's Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles on Sunday, April 5.

He arrived at the Cathedral of the Assumption, Thurles on Monday, April 6, at 10:30am for Requiem Mass at 11am.

The Mass was followed by burial in St Patrick's Cemetery, Thurles.

Tributes have been paid to Johnny online, with one person saying: "Condolences to all Johnny's Family at this very sad time . Johnny was pure gentleman great friend of my Dad. May Johnny RIP."

Another said: Sincere sympathy to Geraldine, Helen, Noreen, Mary and Teresa on Johnny's passing. So saddened to hear of his untimely departure, I have fond memories of our service together in the FCA and meeting downtown with Teresa and chatting about old times. May Johnny rest in eternal peace."
