The 'Run for Breda' charity fundraiser took place in Borrisokane Town Park on Monday, April 6, commencing at 2pm. A large crowd attended the 5k event to honour the memory of Breda O’Shea, with participants taking part by running, walking, jogging and strolling.

Donations were accepted both on the day and through the O’Shea family’s 'Run for Breda' fundraising page, with all proceeds going to Milford Hospice Care Centre.

The late Breda was the wife of the well-known referee Martin O’Shea and mother to Niamh and Ruairí. She was remembered on the day as a much loved wife, mother, sister and friend, deeply valued by her family, friends and all who knew her.

The event provided an opportunity to reflect on her life in a positive and inclusive manner, with an emphasis on togetherness rather than competition.

Light refreshments were available, and the Liam MacCarthy Cup was also present at the event where people could stop and pose for photographs with the prestigious cup.

Speaking to the Tipperary Star, Martin O’Shea said, "It was extraordinary to see all the people that turned out in big numbers. The road was full of people... thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everyone that came out and donated."
