Tensions rise as another faithful is banished from The Traitors castle

Tensions continue to rise in The Traitors castle after another faithful was banished from the game.

Fingers were pointed at barber Tyler, Anglican priest Lisa and student Freddie during a heated debate at the roundtable in Thursday’s episode as the contestants tried to decipher who are the remaining traitors in the competition.

Tyler tried to defend accusations that him smiling at others was suspicious but he was ultimately banished after receiving 12 votes from other contestants.

Afterwards the 29-year-old barber from Leicester addressed his fellow players, saying: “I just want to say I love all of you, it’s just a game, so just keep going and smash it.

“I love you. I am a faithful.”

Questions were also raised during the roundtable about why Lisa, 62, had continued to promise she was a faithful “as God is my witness”.

This prompted her to finally reveal to her fellow contestants she was an ordained Anglican priest, which appeared to surprise some players while others did not believe her.

There was further strain earlier in the episode when traitors Minah and Linda decided to forfeit their “murder” in an attempt to recruit faithful Anna to the dark side.

However, Anna decided to reject their offer, saying: “They’re using this to scapegoat me, they’re going to throw me under the bus and then I’m going to have to stand up there and tell everyone I’m a traitor…

“If I want to leave the competition, I want to leave my way.”

Her refusal meant that no changes were made to the line-up overnight, which raised eyebrows with the other contestants at breakfast as they expected someone to have left after being “murdered”.

Elsewhere in the episode, the contestants took on a new carnival-themed mission which saw the players work in pairs as they attempted to make their way through a fun house without their balloon being popped.

At each stage they were presented with a series of doors, one of which had a clown behind it who would cause the balloon to pop.

The pair had to communicate which doors were safe or not to the other competitors to help guide everyone through the fun house in order to secure money for their prize pot.

The group managed to secure an extra £5,000, bringing the total to £29,500, while Leanne and Leon won shields which would protect them from being “murdered” that night.

Finalists have a chance of winning a chunk of the £120,000 prize but if a traitor survives until the very end, unidentified, they take home the full prize pot, while any faithfuls left go home with nothing.

The Traitors returns to BBC One and iPlayer on Friday at 9pm.
