Timothee Chalamet to pull ‘double duty’ on Saturday Night Live

Actor Timothee Chalamet will serve as both host and musical guest on long-running US sketch show Saturday Night Live (SNL).

The Hollywood star, 29, who portrays Bob Dylan in the new biopic A Complete Unknown, will appear on the January 25 episode.

This will be Oscar-nominated actor Chalamet’s third time helming the show having previously done so in 2020 and 2023.

A post on SNL’s official X account saw Chalamet fill both the host and musical guest slot, with speculation growing that he could perform a number of Dylan songs in a nod to his latest role.

The new biopic sees Chalamet play a young Dylan in the early days of his career in New York City, culminating in the influential folk singer’s famed performance at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival.

It also sees him perform some of Dylan’s music catalogue, a task he previously said he was eager to do after having an extended period to practise due to the film being delayed by the pandemic and the Hollywood actors’ strike.

“I was confident about singing and by the time we got to do the film I wanted to sing and play the songs live,” he told The Graham Norton Show.

Chalamet has also has starred in sci-fi epic Dune and period drama Little Women, as well earning an Academy Award nod for his role in 2017 Luca Guadagnino-directed film, Call Me By Your Name.
