Gilmore Girls stars Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel cracked jokes about the show’s low budget as they reunited at the Emmys.
The duo starred as mother and daughter in the hit drama, which ran from 2000 to 2007.
They reunited on stage at the Emmys, on a recreation of the show’s set, to mark the 25th anniversary of the show, which is frequently rewatched by fans in the autumn, and made gags about its small budget.
Graham, who played mother Lorelai Gilmore, said on stage: “25 years ago, a show called Gilmore Girls premiered and apparently took the season of fall hostage.”
Bledel, who played Rory Gilmore, said: “In spite of our autumnal dominance, Gilmore was actually a very small show.”
Graham clarified: “Meaning we had no money. If there was a birthday at The Drew Carey show next door, they would send us their leftover sheet cake.”
Bledel joked: “We looked hungry.”
She added: “We saved up all year long to have one snow episode.”
The last time the two actors reunited on-screen was for Netflix’s revival of the series, Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life.
The four-part special followed Lorelai and Rory over the course of one year in the fictional town of Stars Hollow, with each episode corresponding to a season.
The series ended on a cliffhanger, when Rory revealed to her mother that she was pregnant.
