The Celebrity Traitors: Two players banished and another murdered

Two banishments and a murder have taken place in an action-packed episode of The Celebrity Traitors.

YouTube star Niko Omilana, known for his online prank videos, and EastEnders actress Tameka Empson were both voted out at separate roundtable discussions, following suspicions that they could be traitors.

Both stars revealed they had been faithfuls following their banishments, with Omilana, 27, telling his fellow players: “(I) can’t believe I’m out so quickly.”

Plotting in their turret, the traitors – presenter Jonathan Ross, comedian Alan Carr and singer Cat Burns – decided on their next murder victim and settled on killing retired Olympic diver Tom Daley.

The celebrities realised he had been murdered after the athlete failed to make it to breakfast.

Speaking about reactions to his death, Carr, 49, said: “It was just the kind of impact I wanted, people couldn’t believe it, ‘Where’s Tom? Why Tom?’ Well he’s been murdered. Deal with it.”

It comes after Carr murdered Never Tear Us Apart singer Paloma Faith in plain sight by touching her face after rubbing his hands on a poisoned lily.

Following his exit, Daley, 31, said: “I’m a little disappointed that I’m out a bit early but, at the same time, it was so much fun to be able to get a little bit of a glimpse into the Traitors world.

“The castle itself is absolutely huge, and actually going in and having a chance to look around was thrilling; searching for that secret room, wondering which book might open the hidden door, taking in as many of the details as possible.

“I have had so much fun in there. Being able to just be with that group of people was so much fun, being able to have conversations with some really interesting people. I was having a great time.”

Omilana said he felt “sad” because “I wanted to go far”.

Empson, 48, added: “It’s been a roller coaster. It was an amazing experience. I loved every minute of it. I wish it was longer.”

Wednesday’s episode saw the celebrities chained up inside a small cabin where they were tasked with figuring out how to unlock each other in order to add money to the charity prize pot.

The episode ended with the traitors deciding if their next victim should be Welsh singer Charlotte Church, Irish actress Ruth Codd or historian David Olusoga .

In the spin-off series, hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the competitors – named the faithfuls – are tasked with detecting and banishing the murderous traitors in the group while completing a series of challenges to win cash towards the charity prize pot.

If at the end of the series a traitor or traitors is among the finalists, the faithfuls lose out on the money and the traitor takes the full cash prize.

Since the UK version began in 2022, millions of fans have watched The Traitors on the BBC and it has picked up a Bafta TV Award for best reality and constructed factual programme, and best entertainment performance for Winkleman.

The celebrity series attracted more than six million viewers when it launched on October 8.

The programme airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays on BBC One.
