Celia Imrie’s fart on Celebrity Traitors was ‘so loud’ – Kate Garraway

Celebrity Traitors star Kate Garraway has said Celia Imrie’s fart during a tense moment on the show was “so loud”.

The Thursday Murder Club actress audibly passed wind during a stressful mission in a cabin on the BBC show, prompting gales of laughter from her fellow cast members, as well as viewers around the country.

Reflecting on the moment, Garraway told ITV’s Good Morning Britain: “It was so loud!

“How could somebody so elegant, so petite, so gracious, let off that huge sound, and it was so nerve-racking in a serious moment.

“It was my favourite, favourite moment in that cabin, which was deeply unpleasant.

“She’s adorable, we salute you.”

After the fart, which was picked up by microphones, presenter Claudia Winkleman said: “What just happened?”

Imrie responded: “I just farted, Claudia. It’s nerves, but I always own up.”

Wednesday’s episode saw the celebrities chained up inside a small cabin where they were tasked with working out how to unlock each other in order to add money to the charity prize pot.

The viral moment almost overshadowed the drama of the episode, which saw two banishments and a murder take place.

YouTube star Niko Omilana, known for his online prank videos, and EastEnders actress Tameka Empson were both voted out at separate roundtable discussions, following suspicions that they could be traitors.

Both stars revealed they were faithfuls following their banishments, with Omilana, 27, telling his fellow players: “(I) can’t believe I’m out so quickly.”

Plotting in their turret, the traitors – presenter Jonathan Ross, comedian Alan Carr and singer Cat Burns – decided their next murder victim was to be retired Olympic diver Tom Daley.

The celebrities realised he had been murdered after the athlete failed to make it to breakfast.

Speaking about reactions to his death, Carr, 49, said: “It was just the kind of impact I wanted, people couldn’t believe it, ‘Where’s Tom? Why Tom?’ Well, he’s been murdered. Deal with it.”

It comes after Carr murdered Never Tear Us Apart singer Paloma Faith in plain sight by touching her face after rubbing his hands on a poisoned lily.

Following his exit, Daley, 31, said: “I’m a little disappointed that I’m out a bit early, but at the same time, it was so much fun to be able to get a little bit of a glimpse into the Traitors world.”

During the programme, Daley had suspicions that Garraway was a traitor because of her reaction to Faith’s murder.

Speaking on GMB, Garraway said she had not realised how he felt about her.

She said: “You don’t know what people are saying about you when you’re in there, so I had no idea he was doing these eye rolls. I had no idea, because you don’t until it goes out.

“So I didn’t notice that, I was just flabbergasted at Paloma Faith being murdered.”

Daley had said he thought it was suspicious that Garraway was using dramatic language such as “flabbergasted”.

Responding to this criticism, Garraway said: “Apparently no one says it, like whoopsadaisy, which I also say, and oh my giddy aunt.”

She added: “He was adorable, and when I was in there, I was really sorry he was gone because I had no idea that he objected so much to me. In fact, that’s happening a lot, that’s happening a lot. I’m driving Ruth (Codd) mad.”

The episode ended with the traitors deciding if their next victim should be Welsh singer Charlotte Church, Irish actress Codd or historian David Olusoga.

The programme airs on Wednesdays and Thursdays on BBC One.
