Man in court charged with attempted murder after shooting which injured girl, 9

A man has appeared in court charged with four counts of attempted murder after a shooting which left a nine-year-old girl seriously injured, the Metropolitan Police said.

The girl was eating dinner with her family at a restaurant in Kingsland High Street, in Dalston, east London, on May 29, when a lone motorcyclist fired shots towards the building.

Police said she remains in hospital in a stable condition but, last month, her parents said she may never “speak or move properly” again.

Three men sitting outside the restaurant, aged 37, 42 and 44, were also shot but were discharged from hospital a few days later.

Javon Reily, 32, of Farnborough Road, Farnborough, Hampshire, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on September 6, police said.

He was arrested on Friday after a vehicle stop on Chelsea Embankment, police said.

A 35-year-old woman who was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and assisting an offender has been released on police bail.
