Two dead after vehicle collision in Essex

Two men have died following a road collision in Essex, police said.

Essex Police said it was called shortly after 3am on Sunday to reports of a two-vehicle collision on the B1007 Stock Road, by junction 16 of the A12 near Chelmsford.

A man in his 50s, who was a passenger in one car, and a man in his 30s, who was the driver of the other car, died at the scene despite emergency services attending.

Their families have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Two other men have been taken to hospital with serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Essex Police said the road was closed on Sunday “while officers carried out vital investigations”.

The force said it wanted to hear from anyone who may have seen a blue BMW 3 series car in the early hours of Sunday.

Inspector James Freeman said: “Our thoughts are with the families and friends of the two people who died today.

“We are working hard to establish what led up to this collision and would urge anyone with information to contact us.”

Essex Police asked for people to quote incident 157 of 23 March when providing any information.
