Batten down the hatches! Met Éireann issues Status Yellow wind warning for Waterford

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow wind warning for Waterford today (April 12) with widespread gusts of 80 to 110km/h expected. 

The warning is in place until 3pm today. 

It also covers areas including Leinster, Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo, and Tipperary.

Wave overtopping is to be expected in coastal areas of the county as well, with a Status Yellow gale warning also issued for all coasts and on the Irish Sea. 

Southwesterly winds veering west to northwest will reach gale force 8 or strong gale force 9 at times. 

The warning is valid from midnight until 3am tomorrow (Thursday April 13). 

Maximum temperatures will be between 6 to 11 degrees, with lows of 0 to 4 degrees tonight.
