Two electric vehicle charging spots in Waterford have been ranked in the top 10 for most idyllic settings in the country.
The most scenic electric vehicle charging spots in Ireland have been revealed, so if you’re planning a road trip in the sunny weather, or planning on hitting the roads at all then look no further than the below list courtesy of Polestar.
Locations in Tramore and Dungarvan have been chosen - see the top ten below.
Polestar, the Swedish electric vehicle brand, used Instagram hashtag data and a team of experts to compile a list of the most scenic places to charge your electric vehicle.
The charging point located at Slea Head Drive in Dingle topped the list, with a stunning view of the Dingle harbour. It overlooks the water with a breathtaking view of the mountains that surround Dingle, which potential travellers can take in.
Meanwhile, the charging point located at the Marine Boardwalk in Greystones, which offers a stunning view of the Greystones landscape placed second, and another Wicklow charging point location at 88 Strand Road, with a stunning view of Bray Beach, landed the third spot.
The charging point at the north end of the beach in Kilkee in Co. Clare, which has a jaw-dropping sea view, landed fourth. The charging point located at South Strand Street along Dublin’s Skerries beach closed off the top five list, which is no surprise thanks to its incredible views, which you can see in Polestar's top 10 list below.
To gather the data Polestar curated a list of the specific coordinates and locations of every charging point in Ireland and then cross-referenced it with how many Instagram hashtags each location had to build a shortlist of top contenders.
A team of experts used this data to manually trawl through each of the locations on the list, reviewing the view from the charging point location and creating the definitive list.
Kieran Campbell, Market Lead - Polestar, Ireland said: “Over the Bank Holiday weekend, families will be taking to the roads to enjoy scenic staycation across the country. The journey, of course, forms part of the enjoyment, especially in an electric Polestar 2 with silent running and Google Maps to take the stress away from the directions.
“With the charging infrastructure in Ireland growing, there are already some incredible locations to take in the view while you’re plugged in.”
NUMBER ONE: CO. KERRY: DINGLE, SLEA HEAD DRIVE
Slea Head Drive in Dingle topped the list, with a stunning view of the Dingle harbour, the charging point located at Dingle also has a breathtaking view of the mountains that surround Dingle, which eco-friendly road-trippers can take in.
Dingle is one of Ireland’s top tourist locations and with views like this, it’s no surprise. A perfect place to make a pitstop on your way to one of Dingle’s many attractions.
NUMBER TWO: CO. WICKLOW: GREYSTONES, MARINE BOARDWALK
Meanwhile, the gorgeous charging point located at Greystones Marine Boardwalk with a stunning view of the Greystones landscape placed second.
With the stunning coastline and beach just a stone’s throw away, whether you’re there to charge your car, get some food, or simply walk up the pier this location really has it all.
NUMBER THREE: CO. WICKLOW, 88 STRAND ROAD, BRAY
Another Wicklow location placed third in the form of 88 Strand Road with a stunning view of Bray Beach it’s easy to see why.
Meaning - if you’re taking a day trip with your electric vehicle this weekend, it seems like Bray is the place to be!
NUMBER FOUR: CO CLARE, KILKEE, NORTH END
Kilkee in Clare with a jaw-dropping sea view landed in fourth place on Polestar’s list.
The location boasts plenty of places to sit and admire the views both in and out of a car and if you’re feeling like you need some fresh air amid your drive you can even take a scenic stroll through the beach too.
NUMBER FIVE: CO. DUBLIN, SKERRIES, SOUTH STRAND STREET
The charging point on South Strand Street along Skerries Beach in Dublin closed off the top five list with its stunning views of the Irish Sea.
Skerries is also known for being a perfect family day out with tons of amenities, restaurants, and fun family activities so if your car needs a charge and you do too - it’s a great place to take a break and enjoy some family fun.
NUMBER SIX: CO. LOUTH, CARLINGFORD, 3 OLD QUAY LANE
This hidden gem in Carlingford, Co Louth, on Old Quay Lane has a perfect view of the sea. Stop, charge your car, sit down, and admire the view.
The drive to Carlingford has some stunning views and this charging point doesn’t disappoint.
NUMBER SEVEN: CO MAYO, ACHILL ISLAND, KEELWEST, DOOAGH
The charging point located on Achill Island, County Mayo is a perfect stop along the Wild Atlantic Way. From this location, you can take in the beautiful view of the rugged western landscape. Achill is truly the jewel in the crown of the Wild Atlantic Way and this charging point is located just minutes from beautiful, secluded beaches, the highest sea cliffs in Ireland, and the iconic Keem Bay.
NUMBER EIGHT: CO. WATERFORD, TRAMORE, PROMENADE
Tramore’s Promenade in Co Waterford has one of the best quaint views on the list, making it an easy choice for number eight.

Courtown in Wexford is a much-loved family holiday destination with so much to do and see.

NUMBER TEN: CO. WATERFORD, DUNGARVAN, DAVITS QUAY,
This beautiful view from Davits Quay in Dungarvan in Waterford is the perfect spot to close out the top ten list.
Watch the boats go past while charging your car or take a short walk into Dungarvan town for some light shopping while you wait - either way, it’s a lovely view.
