Waterford Gardaí seize car of learner driver who reversed away from checkpoint

A car driven by an unaccompanied learner driver has been seized by Waterford Gardaí after the driver attempted to avoid a Garda checkpoint. 

According to An Garda Síochána, a Roads Policing Unit were conducting a routine checkpoint in Waterford over the weekend when they spotted the motorist try to evade them by reversing down the dual carriage. 

When stopped, it was discovered that they were an unaccompanied Learner driver. 

The car was seized on the spot and court proceedings will now follow. 

Gardaí are reminding motorists that refusing to stop or attempting to avoid a Garda checkpoint is an offence under the Road Traffic Act.
