The House of Waterford has unveiled trophies for the upcoming Notre Dame v Navy Midshipmen at the Aviva Stadium game this weekend.
The two Waterford trophies will be awarded to the winning team and coach after the Aer Lingus College Football Classic, taking place this Saturday, August 26.
The Keough-Naughton College Trophy, designed by Matt Kehoe, Senior Designer at Waterford, depicts an American football mounted on three sculpted crystal pillars and will be awarded to the winning team.
The trophy, designed to mimic a football in flight, took two weeks to be completed and is made of six individual pieces of crystal, all of which are blown, cut, sculpted, engraved and assembled by six Waterford craftspeople.
The Coach’s Award, a unique crystal football helmet engraved with the logos of Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Navy Midshipmen, will be presented to the winning team coach.
With over 40,000 from the U.S. expected to visit Ireland for the College Football Classic, House of Waterford has unveiled the one-of-a-kind trophies for the public to see in the windows of Brown Thomas, Grafton Street, in advance of the game.
