Proposed drive-thru at Waterford coffee shop to be built if council grants approval

Planning permission has been sought for major renovations at a popular Costa coffee shop in Waterford.

MBCC Foods (Ireland) Ltd has submitted a planning application to Waterford City and County Council for the development of the Costa unit at Tesco Car Park at Summerhill in Tramore.

If granted, the development will consist of the construction of a drive-thru lane including canopy and service hatch, as well as menu boards, an order station, and advertisement signs.

Changes to the existing car parking layout will also be made, including the removal of 12 existing car parking spaces, provision of a pedestrian crossing and six cycle parking spaces, a new bin store, an increase in the floor area of the building by c.10 sqm, and alterations to landscaping and an outdoor seating area.

A decision is expected at the end of March 2024.
