'A wonderful lady' - Tributes pour in following death of beloved mother and grandmother from Waterford

Jean will be sadly missed by all who knew her

Tributes have poured in following the passing of beloved mother and grandmother Jean Crowe (née Hopkins) who passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, March 17.

Jean from Viewmount Park, Waterford and formerly of Newtownsmith, Galway City, is pre-deceased by her brothers Martin, Paddy and Eddie, sisters Della and Kathleen.

She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Sean, daughter Johann, sons Liam and John, daughter-in-law Allie, grandchildren Ryan and Hannah, brother-in-law Tony, nieces, nephews, extended family, relatives, neighbours and friends.

Those who knew and remembered Jean have been leaving heartfelt messages of condolences on RIP.ie, with one mourner writing,

"Deepest sympathies to Sean, Johann, Liam and John on the passing of your beautiful Jean. A wonderful lady, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her. May her beautiful soul rest in peace."

Another said,

"Our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Sean, Johann, Liam, and Johnny, a beautiful wife and mother of a beautiful family who will forever be in our hearts. We are so very sorry for your loss. We love you all….from across the pond… always in our thoughts and prayers."

While another simply wrote,

"Deepest to Sean and family on the sad passing of Jean. I have many memories of Jean growing up in Galway. May her kind and gentle soul rest in sweet peace."

Funeral Arrangements

Reposing at her residence on Tuesday, March 19, from 5 pm to 7 pm.

Requiem Mass on Wednesday, March 20, in St. Mary’s Church, Ballygunner at 2:30pm followed by burial in the adjoining Cemetery.
