RIP: 'Matty, it was truly a pleasure' - Tributes pour in following death of beloved Waterford man

Tributes have poured in following the death of beloved father and grandfather from Waterford, Matthew (Matty) Collins who passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday surrounded by his loving family.

Formerly of Old Luffany, Mooncoin, County Kilkenny, Matty is pre-deceased by his parents Bridget and James, beloved brother Neddy and his sisters Bridie and Mary.

Matty will be sadly missed and loved by his heartbroken wife of 62 years Bernie, loving son Jimmy and treasured daughters Bridget, Bernadette and Christine, sisters Maggie and Teresa, grandchildren Matt, Robert, Gavin, Steven, Leah, Christopher and Matthew, great grandchildren Olivia, Sofia, Reuben, Brody and Maya, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, neighbours and friends.

Heartfelt condolences have been left on RIP.ie by those who knew and remembered Matty, with one mourner writing,

"Matty it was truly a pleasure, thank you for all the laughs over the years. You'll be sadly missed. Thinking of all your family at this time, watch over them. Rip Matty xxx."

Another wrote,

The Carrigeen GAA club sends its deepest condolences to the Collins & Jacob Families On the passing of Matty , a Carrigeen stalwart at midfield in the sixties ,Matty was a fine hurler for his home club ,Rest In peace Matty, a Carrigeen Star."

While another wrote,

"Thinking of all Mattys family especially his beloved wife Mrs Collins. Matty was a lovely neighbour. St killians wont be the same without seeing Matty potter about. May he rest in peace."

Funeral Arrangements

Reposing on Wednesday at Donnacha Doyle & Sons Funeral Home, Grannagh, Kilmacow from 5pm until 8pm.

Arriving on Thursday at The Sacred Heart of Mary Church, Ferrybank for Requiem Mass at 10am.

Burial after in Carrigeen Cemetery (Via Luffany).
