A suicide and emotional support helpline is seeking Waterford volunteers to man the phones at night.
Samaritans Waterford and South East posted a call-out on X (formerly Twitter) this week (Thursday April 11) seeking "night owls" to listen to callers in need of support during the night.
The post reads: "Night owls wanted. We're looking for night-time volunteers to listen to our callers so that we can be there for more people who need us. Volunteer for a few hours a week and you could change someone's life forever."
According to Samaritans, volunteers don’t need to have been through a particular life experience or be from a certain walk of life to help out.
They are seeking applications from anyone "who wants to help others, is tolerant and open-minded".
Samaritans can be called for free day or night on 116 123.
Apply to volunteer here.
