Elizabeth (Betty) Doherty passed away on Monday
Tributes have poured in following the passing of beloved mother and grandmother from Waterford, Elizabeth (Betty) Doherty née Dwan.
Betty, from The Orchard, Earlscourt, Waterford, formerly of Manor Lawn and late of Waterford Crystal, is predeceased by her beloved parents Paddy and Nellie, her sister Josephine (Edwards) and her nephew Stephen (Hayes).
Sadly missed by her heartbroken husband Tommy, her children Paul, Brian, Deborah, Gavin and Mark, her grandchildren Jessie, Keith, Eoghan, Sofia, Emily, Roan, Aina, Meja, Evan and Finley, her great-granddaughter Annie, doting sister of John (Dwan), Patricia (White), Mary (Power), Nancy (Hegarty), Helen (Dwan), Angela (Prunty), Pauline (Dwan), Paddy (Dwan), Teresa (Hayes) and Martina (O’Connor), cherished niece of Una Jackman. Loved by her daughters-in-law Anne, Natalie, Ulrika and Eileen. Greatly missed by her nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.
Heartfelt condolences have been left on RIP.ie by those who knew and remembered Betty, with one mourner writing,
"Heartfelt condolences to Tommy, Brian, Paul, Deborah, Gavin & Mark on the passing of Betty. A lady with a fantastic personality to go with it. Thinking of all of you and the Dwan family at this sad time. May Betty Rest in Peace."
Another wrote,
"So sorry to hear of Aunt Betty’s passing what a lovely person she was our thoughts are with you all at this very sad time may she rest in peace."
While another wrote,
"What a beautiful photo that is of Betty exactly how I will always remember her so friendly and always smiling .. Betty always looked so glam and stylish ..used to love meeting her always had a great chat and a laugh .. so sorry for all the Doherty and Dwan families she will be sadly missed .. rest easy Betty."
Funeral Arrangements
Reposing at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Barrack Street today Wednesday, from 7pm to 8:30 pm with vigil prayers and rosary at 8 pm.
Betty's funeral cortege will be passing the entrance to Earlscourt en route to St. Mary’s Church, Ballygunner for Requiem Mass on arrival at 12 noon on Thursday followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
