Despite some miserable weather, almost 32,000 supporters attended the do-or-die fixture with both sides knowing defeat would see their season end prematurely.

Playing into a strong breeze in the first half, Davy Fitzgerald's side got the first goal of the match and took an early three-point lead when Shane Bennett flicked home a Stephen Bennett free.

However, Waterford scored just two more points in the first half compared to the Shannonsider's ten.

Limerick had 14 wides in the first half but John Kiely's side improved their accuracy in the second half and won comfortably in the end on a final score of Limerick 0-30 Waterford 2-14.

The Treaty County will now take on Clare in the Munster SHC final on June 9 after they defeated Tipperary by three points at FBD Semple Stadium in Thurles.
