Sarah Szucs peforming with the guitar at Electric Picnic last Saturday
A Waterford performer has appealed to the public to help her locate her missing guitar which was stolen a day after she played at the Electric Picnic.
Sarah Szucs, who performed at Global Green on the Saturday night of Electric Picnic put the appeal out on social media after the guitar was stolen from her tent on Sunday night.
“Sad to say that after a near-perfect weekend at @epfestival my beautiful Yamaha LL-11 was stolen from my tent in the Global Green crew campsite. The tent was ripped open and the guitar taken from its case. I know it’s a very long shot but this guitar had enormous sentimental value and is irreplaceable to me so I’m doing everything in my power to track it down,” the Waterford native who now lives in Tipperary said in an online post.
She said the acoustic guitar is a Yamaha LL-11 from the 1990s which has a distinctive L on the headstock.
“The headstock also has some minor dents and scratches as pictured and minor damage on the bottom corner,” Sarah explained.
“The double L logo is particular to that model of Yamaha guitar (LL11). My understanding is that Yamaha only produced these for a few years in the late 90's and so there is likely only a handful of them in the country so that's the first thing to look out for,” she explained.
Sarah was at a loss as to why somebody would steal her guitar. The instrument represents her income and livelihood but it is also of great sentimental value to the musician.
“It’s been with me since my first originals gig two years ago and I feel like I’ve come home without a limb. I’m also now without a giggable guitar- I’d really appreciate if you could share this far and wide in case it does turn up somewhere,” she said.
She believes the guitar was taken between 9pm and 11pm on the night of Sunday, August 18.
“I reported it on the night to one of the guards that was on duty at Electric Picnic,” Sarah told the Leinster Express.
“A number of other tents were rifled through, a purse was stolen and cash from a few others. We suspect that they came/went through the back of Greencrafts toward Boutique camping, close to Little Picnic. If anyone was at Electric Picnic on Sunday night and noticed someone carrying a loose guitar please let me know as there may be CCTV footage available,” she stated.
Sarah is hoping someone will recognise the distinctive guitar. She is asking anyone who might have information to contact her by email at: deardogfeather@outlook.com
