Green Party TD for Waterford, Marc O Cathasaigh, has been formally announced as the party's candidate for the upcoming General Election.
While it was known for time that the former teacher was to seek re-election, the party had not officially confirmed his selection as a candidate.
To mark the official announcement, Green Party leader Roderic O’Gorman attended an event at The Granville Hotel in Waterford earlier this week where grass roots members of the party approved his selection.

Deputy O Cathasaigh, who will be the only Green Party Candidate running in the Waterford constituency, was first elected as a councillor in the Tramore-City West LEA in 2019 and was subsequently elected to the 33rd Dail in the General Election held in February 2020.
A two-time Ironman, he is currently the Green Party spokesperson on social protection and the Green Party Whip.
Deputy O Cathasaigh is one of 24 candidates which the party has confirmed it will run in constituencies across the country.
