'Unbelievable!' Christmas comes early for Waterford woman as she wins big on scratch card

The woman won €100k after buying a ‘Countdown to Christmas’ scratch card at the Centra store at Farran Park, Upper Grange Road in County Waterford

A Waterford woman has collected a life-changing cash prize after she won €100,000 on a National Lottery scratch card.

The player, who wishes to remain anonymous, was one of several people who visited the National Lottery headquarters in Dublin on Tuesday to claim prizes which were all won in recent days.

She bought the winning ‘Countdown to Christmas’ scratch card at the Centra store at Farran Park, Upper Grange Road in County Waterford.

“I went to the shop for a bottle of water and cashed in a €20 winning scratch card for a new Christmas scratch card. I scratched it when I got home and truly couldn’t believe it. I rang my brother straight away to share the news. It was unbelievable,” she explained.

The woman added that it's not the first time she has enjoyed good luck.

“Money has somehow always come when it’s needed most. In the past, I won a new car just as my old car decided to breakdown.”

The Waterford winner plans on putting her winnings towards buying a house and looking after family.
