Waterford player pockets perfect start to year after narrowly missing €2.3m lotto jackpot

There was cause for celebration in Waterford following Saturday night's lotto draw as one player scooped over €70,000 after coming agonisingly close to taking home the €2.3m jackpot prize.

The Waterford player won an impressive €73,741 after matching 5 numbers and the bonus in Saturday night’s Lotto draw. 

The player purchased their Quick Pick ticket on the day of the draw from Centra, Saint Lawrences Terrace, Lower Grange, Waterford. 

The winning numbers in Saturday, January 4’s Lotto draw were: 5, 10, 13, 36, 37, 46 and the Bonus was 39.

The National Lottery is urging all players in the Waterford city area to check their tickets carefully and if you’re holding the winning ticket, be sure to contact the National Lottery prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie to arrange the collection of your prize.

While there was no winner of the Lotto jackpot worth a total of €2,361,859, over 67,000 players won prizes across Lotto and Lotto Plus draws, including the Waterford winner of the Match 5 + Bonus prize of €73,741.
