Sinn Féin MEP for Ireland South Kathleen Funchion has called on the incoming government to ensure the stalled N24 upgrade is resumed.
Speaking from Brussels, MEP Funchion said: "As another Fine Gael Fianna Fáil coalition prepares to take government one of their glaring failures is to increase the East West connectivity across the country.
"The stalled N24 upgrade, to ensure a safer, faster road from Waterford to Limerick is a prime example."

MEP Funchion noted that although coalition parties have hinted that infrastructure upgrade will be a priority, the government must ensure that projects currently in the early stages of development get priority for funding.
She said: "Better connectivity between Waterford and Limerick will bring a boost for all in those communities and deliver safer roads, I welcome the progress being made on the Cahir to Limerick section of the project and emphasise that the same progress must now be emulated in the remaining section.
"The delays are deeply unfair to the local communities affected and to commuters between the regions. I have contacted the managing local authority for an update on the project."
